Sunday morning I had a brilliant plan to take the family to see the lights at Rhema. I thought the weather was going to stay pretty until Monday or Tuesday. Then Shannon called and told me it was going to get down to 6 or something. So I thought we'd just drive through at least. Then once we got there the girls and Daddy decided they'd run through really fast. Then as they were climbing out of the van I thought I may as well carry Kate through too. I was outside of the van no more than 90 seconds. It took me about 30 to cross the really windy parking lot. 30 more to look at some lights and try to convince Kate that they were exciting enough to forget about the painful wind cutting our faces. 30 more to run back to the van as fast as I could, with Kate crying, "Coh, Coh, Coh!"(cold). It was very sad. I think I actually had the thought cross my mind as I was running with all my might and Kate was crying, and people around me were running and crying too, "are we going to die?" It was really quite painful out there.
So, back at the van, we played with the buckles of her carseat for 4 minutes until Nathan and the girls came running back with tears streaming down their faces.
Apparently Nathan was trying some kind of reverse psychology with the girls, saying, "Man, it's hot out here! I am so hot!" The girls got into that game and I think that's why they were out there for 4 minutes instead of 1 1/2. He's a fun dad.

My favorite line in Riley's song is "...Jesus and Mary, what a great day." So funny.
