Just a couple of stories

I'm always telling Lola "no" and I think she's begun to not even know what it means. I say, "No Lola, don't play with that...don't touch that...do not eat that..." And she usually just sits up and looks at me shaking her hands around and saying, "no, no, no." And then goes right back to it. I decided to let herself teach her her own lesson this morning. She was heading straight for the carbon monoxide detector and I gave her fair warning. "No ma'am, do not play with that." She paused and considered my suggestion and decided to ignore it. I ran along to deal with Kate and leave poor Lola to her lesson. If you all have a carbon monoxide detector in your house, you know that if it is unplugged it is like having a fire truck siren in your home. It nearly makes my heart stop. So I did momentarily worry about Lola's little heart. But my goodness, I can't follow all of them around constantly. It had to happen some day. She went after her new toy and dislodged it only slightly before it screamed at her with roaring beeps that put her into shock at first and then she reacted. It was a baby yell that could have been a man's yell. And she crawled as fast as she could, which actually only put her on her tummy in her slippery sweats. It was very sad to see and I ran to shut the thing up and comfort her, and she squeezed me SO hard and wouldn't let me go. We sat there by the carbon monoxide detector letting our hearts get back to their normal paces and she wouldn't take her eyes off of it. She just squeezed me tight and stared down the evil thing.

And just another thing I didn't want to forget too soon. Kate wants to watch "Ooster" and I have no idea what she's talking about. All the time it's, "no Mom, I just want Ooooster!" Come to find out it's Esther, the veggie tale movie. She also loves her jeaM skirt. Oh, there are so many more I can't remember. She's just cute.

I'm priming doors this morning (just 3), and a wall above the fridge and patched spots in the girls' bathroom. I really do love to paint. Some day I won't have anything left to paint and I'll be depressed and decide to start changing all our colors. :)

Don't you love being a MOM?
YOU learn more than they do....
the stories I could tell...

at least it just "scared" her... Jared's daughter burned her hand recently and had to go to the emergency room!

TEACHING RULE.... never say NO/ Don't because they do NOT hear that... if you say Don't run... all they hear is RUN!
SO teachers are taught to say... Walk
Anytime you can change it to a positive, you will connect with their dendrites! <3
If people think 2s are terrible it is only because they have not met a 3 yr old!
at 2 they learn to say no
at 3 they MEAN IT!
thanks for sharing

Poor Lola. I hate those plug in detectors. Mine goes off on a regular basis (because of disobedient children) and we all freak out and it ruins our day for just a little bit. So, when I heard the alarm sound last time I yelled over the siren, "You know what that sound means?! It means you disobeyed!" Haha - makes me laugh now :)
