I dished myself a hefty helping of stuff to do this month. I thought up these great ideas for gifts to make. Actually, Nathan thought up a couple of them, and they were GREAT ideas. I've gotten a couple of them done and now I feel I can really do this quickly since I know all about how to do it. But I'm a rusher and like speed better than quality. I just do. Nathan comes home and looks over my work with a critical eye, and I've redone a few messy spots. Don't you wish you knew what I was making?! I can't disclose quite yet.
So the past 2 days of work I must undo, because I made a rash decision when I had the girls with me in the store and they were making me sweat (this is the point when it's time to leave the store). So here is the sad story of a bunch of futile work gone to poo yesterday.
#1 Thing that went to Poo - my ill-chosen thing that made my crafty project pitiful. approx 7 hours work to be tossed out.
#2 Thing that went to Poo - Dinner. I worked from 3:30 to 6:45 on this neat idea called Sweet Potato and Whole Wheat Gnocchi with Gouda Sauce. What an incredible idea, right? It just didn't work out. My oven didn't get hot after an hour of waiting for it, so I ended up microwaving the taters. It just all went downhill from there.
And gouda is expensive. It should be treated well. The sauce was the best part, so it's a crying shame that it's all over this gnocchi that the girls chew and then start crying and spitting it out. Gnocchi is a bit of an interesting dumpling, or very thick noodle texture. SO. That was a time-consuming, expensive, and depressing fail.
#3 Thing that went to Poo - Got the kids in bed. Showered away my the remnants of my failed dinner attempt. Fixed myself a comforting drink of almond milk and kahlua, and started a big recording project. There is this Christmas song we actually sang last year that Nathan changed and arranged but we failed to record it. So Nathan has devoted hours to getting the instrumentation recorded and last night I put my voice in there. We worked for a few hours. At 11pm we sat back and pushed play to hear the finished product and all my tracks had disappeared. Nathan worked for another 45 minutes trying to recover it, to no avail.
We laid our heads on our pillows, sighed nice and deep and said, "oh well." We'll pick it up again tomorrow, because really, we had fun doing it. I can't help it, especially once I drink my coffee. And if I drink coffee and Pinterest simultaneously, who knows what Nathan will find when he comes home from work.
