My bathroom video stopped working, so I went ahead and took some pictures. It's probably much better than my droning voice anyway.
Well, the idea with this bathroom was not to make it too overly modern, but stick to a bit of the 50's feel, since that is the style of the house. So we went with the awesome little hexagon tiles in a neutral gray/tan. We embraced paneling, with a twist. All along, I intended to paint those panels white, like the "Snow Caps" that all of our trim in the house is painted. Even after a day of slathering it on, late that night Nathan and I, simultaneously, but separately in our minds, thought that yellow paneling might be too awesome to not do. But neither of us would say it out loud because I had already poured sweat and tears into filling all those grooves with "Snow Caps."
So I put some yellow on a leftover piece of paneling in the garage and leaned it up in the bathroom. Nathan looked at it and said that it was awesome and it was his idea, and then I said it was awesome and totally my idea. And then we hugged and told each other that we had superb taste, and agreed on the yellow.
The next day I covered all my white-paint hard work with awesome mustard yellow.
Cell phone cameras really distort color. This yellow is mustard, and truly not as bright as this shot. The top paint color is called Pebble in the Valspar Lowe's section. It's an awesomely perfect mix of gray/tan. I like it when the gray isn't too cold/blue looking. It was hard to find.
Light fixture not quite installed. Nathan framed the mirror right into the paneling.
These were hard to find. I wanted the "HOT" and "COLD" on there and I wanted the cross knobs. Amazon was the only place to find it at a decent price.
This job was done just in time for the weather to become incredible and it's gardening time. Yay!
