We have swimmers

Gymnastics are done.  Swimming lessons were super successful!  And they're over now.  I have video of Kate screaming her head off for 3 days of being plunged under water or being tossed in to her teacher.  But the last 3 days were awesome.

Here is a video (I hope it works) of swimming lesson sadness Kate experienced.  It was also pretty chilly, which didn't help. BUT, I just need to say that Miss Lisa is the sweetest swimming teacher.  Her hugs just calmed Kate down after each traumatizing plunge.

From the start she was totally against all of it, but suddenly one day she quickly got into the pool, and in a panic told the teacher she wanted to do it by herself and she just started going under over and over and over.  She was terrified but she faced it.  In between each plunge she yelled, "I want to get my hair wet by myself!"
I think she just decided, this is scary, but I'm going to have to do it whether I like it or not, so I'm just going to do it on my own.  She just kept going under and we kept cheering her on and she realized she could survive it, so she kept going under and we kept cheering.  It could've been the climactic ending to a cheesy sports movie.  Made me cry.  She's so tiny and brave. :)

In other news, we bid on and won a huge german chocolate cake at our church dessert auction and I couldn't help but eat it for breakfast with my coffee.  I had to.  No matter what time Lola goes to bed (it was 9:30 last night!) she wakes at 6am.  Just no stinkin' matter how much sleep she really needs, she's like clockwork, screaming mad at 6am.  She's mad because she's cranky because she needs that extra hour or two, but her brain won't let her.  I don't know how to reprogram that.  So anyway, I'm tired and that's when I most long for cake.
By 9am Lola is wondering around with a wet wipe and her blanket, falls onto a beanbag or a pile of laundry and falls to sleep.  It is my opinion that we should have kept the crib for another year.  Then she would never know life with an option of rising whenever she pleases.  And don't even begin to suggest that she might need to give up her nap.  That would drive me to eat more cake.
