Okay, I may not go private. It's such a hassle, and I don't want to complicate things for the grandma's and friends without a blog to post a special link on their reading list.
Anyway...what are you supposed to do when you see that yucky sites are visiting your blog? I guess they can just visit away. And see what I cooked. Oh well.
I had a cooking weekend. Lola woke up from a nap cranky and needed to stir with me, so we made our favorite strawberry heart poptarts. And in the pan are the innerds of our soon-to-be enchiladas. Cinco de cinco, baby. These were my best enchiladas to date. Chicken, tomatoes, black beans, peppers, cilantro, and a little cream cheese. ! Ya, cream cheese.
I needed to use up the rest of our arugula, which the girls usually think is too strong and often spicy. I food processed it with edamame, parmesan, lemon juice and zest, garlic, and olive oil. Spread it on EVOO'd toasted bread. And they liked it!
We also went shopping for mine and Nathan's mother's day gifts for our mom's. I can't show you right now, but I'm excited about what we're doing for them. I'll show you after next weekend. :) It's pretty. I want one.
Also over the weekend, I cried. Well, I was tired. And the girls behavior had been disappointing me, making me feel like a pretty terrible mom. And I felt that my heart was hard. I didn't want to give the kids any grace. I had no grace for Nathan. I was bitter when I washed dishes. My back hurt. I gained 5 lbs in France. I know, so vain. See, lots of good reasons to cry. :)
I decided to talk to Nathan about it, and talk to God about it, and read a good book. And then I remembered that one of my favorite authors just came out with her new book. Rachel Jankovic wrote Loving the Little Years a couple of years ago, and my mom gave Al and I her book. The gospel in her book saved me back then and I was so excited to get Fit to Burst this weekend. She just fills my brain with right thinking, reminds me of my calling.
So, sisters, Fit to Burst is on your kindles. Thanks, Dad. :)
I recommend her to any mom, but especially if you're about to have #2 or 3 or so on. She has 5 under the age of 5, I think (well, that was a couple of years ago), and she's my age, and she speaks from her own experience, which are all the things I'm experiencing. She's my friend, even if she doesn't realize it. She also wrote one called Desperate. I probably need to read that too.
Anyway. My coffee is really good this morning. I made it double strong with a little almond milk and honey. Wonderful, wonderful.
I hope you all have a sweet Monday.
