More from our travels

Here are the cakes my mother-in-law made for the aniversary/birthday celebration.
Every bit of these, from the flowers and fan down to the gardening gloves, is made of sugar. I think that's pretty awesome.

Here the girls are enjoying a little Tinker Bell while everyone gets the place set up for the party. That DVD player was a life-saver for sure.
One of Kate's favorite things to do at this party was travel the chairs...until it was past nap time, and then her favorite thing to do was throw her body into the floor and roll around and whine. We went back to Grammy's for a short nap. Now we're all a little sickly because our "non-smoking" room nearly killed us with it's smokiness. Still, there were some good, sweet times none-the-less. I'm really glad we were able to go.
So here's a funny story. After we got back from that little trip a few of us were sick and there was a ton of snow, so we stayed home from church, made a snow man, and lazed around as I anticipated Nathan's departure for a business trip that would last pretty much forever and I wasn't sure I'd survive and I guess just knowing we'd celebrate our own aniversary a month after the fact, I shoved it out of my mind. So I kind of forgot that it was even our aniversary on Sunday.
Nathan took Riley to the grocery store and when they came back they busted in the door with a dozen roses. I seriously could not imagine why he got me roses. I was happily surprised and said, "Why did you get these?" Then he reminded me that we'd been married 6 years. I felt so bad. I really think it's the pregnancy. With each one I lose a little bit of my brain.
But I'm still too witty for Nathan to get it sometimes. Later on in the kitchen I was telling Riley (loud enough for Nathan to hear, and just to make fun of myself for my earlier mistake), "Daddy and I have been married for 5 years." Now he loves to think that I really forgot how long we've been married. The truth is he rejoices in the fact that he is set for life now. He's off the hook if he ever forgets.

That's funny. Congrats on 6 years of marriage!!!! I can relate. I almost put that James was going to be 3 on his family party invites. I blame the pregnancy.

Pregnant women always have extra grace. It goes away when you have the baby and you're dragging 4 kids through the grocery store and every one is looking at you like, "Why can't she control her children?!" No grace :( So, there you go - ENJOY BEING PREGNANT!!! HA!

Wow, thanks for posting the pictures of the cakes. Of course, mom said she was making them but I still haven't gotten it though my dense head that they will be THAT amazing.
You know what, I completely forgot about OUR 10th anniversary in ummm.... 5 days until I read your blog. I'm so focused on when Samuel is coming that I forgot that he's the product of something that happened 10 years ago. Hmmmm... I think I'll write it on the calendar so I don't forget again.

so I meant to say our anniversary is in 5 days - can I blame that on the last few weeks of pregnancy as well?
