Camping/fishing weekend

We took the fam to Roaring River for kids' fishing day. My parents stayed the whole week before just so we could have an awesome place to put our tent when we got there.

We started off the weekend with a trip to the fish hatchery.

and then a small hike, which made the kids feel very strong. We finished off that evening around the fire.

Al working with Hudson on his marshmallow roasting.

Claire didn't want any help. Notice, she crammed 4 marshmallows on her stick. After ejoying her smore.
The kids loved hearing Alyson's old camping stories about Aunt Ange and Aunt Aly. Claire was sucked in and Daddy enjoyed watching her being sucked in.The girls were SO excited when Ange and Alisha showed up.
After a night of storms and sleeping in the van (because Nathan's weather radio said 60-mile-hr winds and hail were coming, but they never came), we were up and at 'em by 6.

Here's Hudson's fish, which Papa caught and Ange netted for him, but it's still Hudson's fish because it's kids' fishing day and adults aren't allowed to fish.

Hudson touching his "soft" fish.

Taking a rest on our last big hike.

I didn't think the camera was working so there are about 4 of these with me making a face like this. This was probably the kids' favorite part, just splashing around in the freezing cold river.
It was an awesome weekend.

Ahhhhh! Roaring River. That is a big Kramer tradition. We took trips there as children all the time. And have taken Sheridan once. Can't wait to take the other kids there. The hiking and fish hatchery are popular. Did you hike to Devil's Kitchen?

How is your back??
