Today was Riley's first day of school. The house was SO much quieter today, as you might imagine. I'll have to post her adorable pictures in her school uniform later, since Nathan took the camera to work by accident. She shed not a tear when she went into her room this morning. However, when we got back to the van and Claire said in her very sad voice, "I'm going to miss Rah-lee so much." I couldn't hold back my tears. Claire wanted to continue a conversation about having a party for Riley when she got home that afternoon and I was just choking and saying quick uh-huh's between sobs. After that little episode was over, the day went great.
So we're adjusting to this new season just fine. My girls are just getting so big. Riley and Claire recently promoted from baths to showers. It's surreal.
Tonight as the girls were so excitedly jumping in the shower Riley turned around and said to me with all sincerity, "Thanks for helping us have a great life."

Oh, I'm going to be the same way and cry when each one goes to school! What a sweet girl!
I thought of you throughout the day and wondered how you were doing. I am glad Riley likes it and hope that makes it a little easier for you.
Thanks for helping us have a great life?! She is amazing. I mean, did that really come out of your 5-year-old's mouth?! I don't think my boys will ever graduate to showers.
