A little progress.

This is the area I stripped in about an hour yesterday. But it's the add-on wall that only had 3 layers on it. The rest of it has some pretty antique last two layers that come off like mud in little bits.
It's gross and messy and slow going.
If anyone has a better idea of how to remove the really old stuff, let me know. The smell of fabric softener sickens me now.

can't see why you're stripping off such lovely wallpaper... not! :)

Ok I know it sounds crazy but paintable wall paper. It is white so you don't have to prime and it will or at least is supposed to smooth out the wall. I have not used it before but was very close to when we redid out bathroom.

When we did my mom's house we combined vinegar and water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray on old paper, let sit, then it would USUALLY scrape off with an ice scraper. It's easier to just soften it up and scrape it....
