what's up with that?!

There are phrases I say and don't realize I say them. Until Riley starts talking to me about some injustice in her life and finishes with, "...so what's up with that?!" And then I laugh at her. And then Kate is trying to get her socks on as fast as she can and it keeps getting caught on her toe and she heaves a loud sigh and says, "Oh my gracious." And I laugh at her. But the greatest copied word that makes me cringe is "like." And when Riley gets on a roll, I can count like, 15 likes in one conversation. "Mom, um like, um, Kathryn at school, um like. She, like, she has this big, like, you know, like..." gesticulating with the hands. She's a funny girl.

Well, ever since school started I find I'm not much of a facebooker or blogger. Maybe I have less stories to tell because half my kids are gone. Or maybe we leave the house more and by the time I get home I've got to run around and do house things and never think to speak with my cyber friends. Either way, I kind of like it. I used to run to facebook with more of a desperation to find something that makes me sane and escape the chaos for a minute. Now I guess I have less of a need to escape.
Also, I'm a Roman shade maker now. I'm halfway done with my bedroom shades. Can't wait to share them with you. Hope all my pictures and explanations will help someone make their own shade too.

I played "softball" with the girls the other day out in the yard with our big plastic bat and squishy, pillow-like ball. Oh, it was so fun I just wanted to steal the toys from the girls and hit all by myself. I felt 12 again. :) But it was very exciting to teach Riley and Claire the proper way to throw and once they caught on, they were nailing me with some frozen ropes. Too bad Nathan prohibits any of our girls from playing softball, ever. He says rock-climbing, bike riding, and tennis are acceptable (his sports). We'll see.

Oh my gracious. I should be like, working out right now.
