A Lola story

Lola doesn't like to get stuff on her hands. She finds comfort in a wet wipe or damp cold cloth, and clean hands. Even in the bathtub she reaches her hands up so I can dry them for her. Lola also loves the outdoors. If I left the sliding door unlocked she would be out there all hours of the day walking the perimeter of the yard listening to the far-away barks of dogs and getting excited about just being out there with them.
One afternoon I was at the kitchen sink while the girls were out back. I watched Lola watching Kate on the swing. She wanted to be on a big swing too. She turned around and backed up to it, but of course, it reached the back of her head. She fell onto her bum and rolled to her back. That was funny enough, but then she rolled to her tummy and tried to get up, but more important than getting up from the ground was keeping her hands free of grass and dirt. So basically, she kept her hands up high, her elbows down, cheek to the ground, bum in the air and inched her feet closer to her elbows until she could stand. A video may have been better than the description, but I was laughing so hard. She actually attempted it a few times and kept rolling to her side. Eventually she got up. Oh how I laughed.

that is hilarious. you could just leave the back door open and let her roam around the yard. then she would be a feral child. and someone could write a book about her.
