I amaze myself

Though, I don't know why I'm still so amazed.  I have consistently been baffled and confused by the girls' school snack calendars (they each have to bring a snack once a month).  I am either so completely unaware of the date, and forget what week it is, and don't send snacks at all, thinking I have a whole week before Claire needs to bring hers.  Or like this week, I get a reminder email from Riley's class, thinking it's Claire's class, and wonder why Claire is not on it when I'm sure Monday is her snack day.
I also made a big ol' strawberry salad for all the teachers for a teacher appreciation lunch and brought it to the school (lugging children and spinach and serving utensils and the like), emailed the whole class yahoo group to let the volunteer servers know it was in the fridge there, and then they let me know the lunch was not this week, but the next.  So there's no pretending.  They know I'm crazy now.  We had a big salad for dinner that night.
I also made a gigantic pile of dip for a fellowship a week too early, so my family and I OD'd on sour cream.

So, note to the world.  Don't inform me more than 7 days in advance of an occasion to which I need to bring food, or my brain is too full.  The stress and confusion is too much and I just make the food to eliminate the stress and confusion.

Having been inspired by a friend who made a lovely dress for her daughter, I bought a pattern for a dress.  The pattern said, "easy."  Hmmm.  Really?  You pattern readers tell me, but I think there is an understanding among you that I don't understand.  Like what do I do at each little dart?  Cut into it?  or cut out, mirroring the dart?  Why is the dart there?  Or where all the circles are.  Do I need to do something with these circles?
The last time I worked with a pattern I think I was 14, in a cultish community (I may be joking, but maybe not) of sweet girls sewing tapestry vests for ourselves.  At the time I thought the vest was rather flattering.  Bless my heart.  Well, since that experience, I thought such things were not for the likes of me.  Tapestry vests are still not for me, but maybe sewing clothing could be.  We'll see.

Thanks for the laugh :) Your poor brain. Cut out on the dart and I don't remember what to do on the circles. I bet there's a youtube video somewhere to show you how.

A few weeks ago, I called Shane to ask if I was supposed to be sending snacks for the youth group. "Uh, no - I had you down for February." what? I missed the whole month of February? Nobody told me. Those poor teenagers (or more likely, the poor hostess who had to scramble to find food). I'm not amazed any more unless I actually remember what I'm supposed to do.

I think they understand.
