Is this over the top?

I tried to quit coffee yesterday.  I tried again today.  If I'm to be an effective lady, at anything, I either need 10 hours of sleep or coffee.  Since the former is improbable, I am enslaved to the latter.  "LIH-turly" enslaved, as Riley would say.

So, I'm on a quest.  This quest drives Nathan crazy.  I even laughed at myself last night when I told him what I did that day, just knowing the eye-roll was coming.
Well, I'd just like to give my family real, wholesome food and products that don't fill us with dyes and  chemicals and things that are just fillers.
Pinterest connects us with sorts of ideas and Nathan is always cautioning me that weirdos can blog their "clean", "organic" ideas just as easily as the smart folks out there.  He's pretty sure the weirdo came up with baking soda/water shampoo and vinegar/water conditioner.  And come to think of it, since Pinterest also tells me this will remove the grime off my tub, it may be a little harsh on the ol' highlights.  I tried it.  It does leave the hair a little crunchy.

But I also made pita bread from scratch.  I didn't perfect the pocket part, but at least we can dip it in our humus.
Once coffee brought me to life, I also made black bean humus, almond butter (SO GOOD), pear-walnut muffins, and stuffed peppers (for dinner), worked out, and then washed my hair with soda and vinegar.

Not buying boxed, snacks food is healthy, cheaper, and it also takes a lot of extra time to replace those things with your homemade things.  I should probably be baking graham crackers right now.  Sometimes you just have to buy some goldfish so you can do something other than bake from scratch all day every day.  It's a fine idea, but I think we're forced to be pratical.

Some things I'd still like to try are to make some homemade face toner (I need to get me some witch hazel), deodorant, and bronzer (made out of cinnamon and powdered sugar. Is that a joke?).

And to top of Nathan's eye-rolling experience last night, just for fun, I told him I'm going on a brown rice cleanse to remove all the heavy metals from my body.  I like to throw these things at him to see his reaction. :)

Oh, that last line just made me laugh out loud! Perhaps this is THE secret to weight loss- remove the heavy metals from one's body! Brilliant!

Reading all that you get done after drinking coffee makes me want to drink coffee :-) We watched a show the other night that said that most of women's make-up (until Elizabeth Arden hired a chemist to start creating make-up int he early 1900's) was lead based....nice, natural lead based make-up....yikes! I guess no one had thought of powdered sugar and cinnamon :-)

I believe you and won't roll my eyes at you. I do like getting 10 hours of sleep, but... through force... I have made myself like coffee again. I've been drinking it a few times a week when I can't quite wake up. Stick with your coffee. Eat your brown rice and wear natural deodorant. Also, I commented down there on the Christmas gift post if you care.

I sometimes have moments where I want to eat organic and healthy and "natural" too! It just takes more time and thought.

There was a cool NPR radio cast about how certain vegetables are better than others to buy organic, so you can save money on it. Fruit and veggies with soft skins that are easily penetrated by insects are often the worst in terms of pesticide levels. But stuff that's hard-shelled--not so much. There are lists on line :).
