The next project, some day

This past weekend my parents treated us to a late anniversary weekend away.  We celebrated 9 years of madly-in-love marriage.  They kept all the girls and we stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast type place.  We rode bikes, canoed, ate, drank, watched a couple episodes of Downton Abbey, and so on and so forth. :)

Then we took advantage of having no children and went to a couple of antique places.  The girls pretty well despise antiquing, and we miss the days of wondering through shops every Saturday.  That was one of our hobbies before we issued so many offspring.
I was actually on the hunt for some low bench/ottomans I could recover for seating in front of the den fireplace.  I need something we can sit on that can face the fireplace or the chairs against the wall on the other side.
We went from antiquing to visiting furniture stores that we would never dream of buying something from and decided we could make these awesome little ottoman/seats.
I didn't realize Nathan was taking this picture.  Otherwise I wouldn't be slumping and looking half conscious.

So that's the plan.  He'll build the frame and I'll cover it (probably with the help of my mother-in-law).  There are also recessed little rollers on the bottom.  If we end of putting those in, I may as well give these to the kids for Christmas.  It will be their new mode of transportation through the house.

When this exciting little project is done in 2014, I'll be sure to post a picture. :)
