Our Christmas Project

This year I got very excited about cloth napkins.
I decided everyone should have a pile of them and just become cloth napkin people, rather than disposable napkin people. :)

As I began to sew napkin sets for my sisters, Nathan was struck with a genius plan to make wooden napkin boxes.  He just loves a good excuse to go to Fab Lab.

These boxes are pretty awesome.  He burned in the recipient's name on the bottom and "NAPKINS" on the top with Fab Lab's laser.

He designed the lids to fit flush and recessed tiny, rare earth magnets to make the lids pop right into place.

This is only a few of the napkin sets.  After making the ones for my sisters and then coming up with the napkin box idea, we decided it was special enough that everyone should have some.  So I made about 13 sets of napkins.

I only wish I had time to make more.  It was so fun, and the whole time I sewed I kept thinking of more people that I would love to give them to.  If you haven't gotten any yet, I'll probably give you some, some day. :)
If you'd like a napkin box of your own, Nathan already has the plan drawn up, and just has to pop it into the smart machine at fab lab and he can whip one up for you.

As fun as all that sewing was.  The day after Christmas I switched back into normal, non-sewing mode.  I put all the Christmas decorations away, found a place for all the extra toys, dusted everything, and swept up all the stray threads that accumulated in the corners of the house after 2 months of sewing.
Do you guys do that?  The day after Christmas is like crazy, spring cleaning for me every year.
Getting ready for Christmas makes me so happy, and cleaning up after Christmas makes me happy too. Anyway...

Hope you all had a splendid day celebrating the birth of Christ with your families.  I'll post more about that sweet time later.

Those are awesome boxes and napkins! You should make them and sell them to people like me :-)

I love my napkins and the holder. I told everyone about it.
