Well, I'm in love

Yes, I had a good date night last night, and I'm in love with that man.  But we also met Lucy, our future pup.  And I do love her.

How did we decide on Lucy, you ask?  In a number of hypothetical situations, and strategic discussions, I deduced the girls' favorite pet/baby/rolie polie names, and that's how we settled on one that we could tolerate.  It was a name that wasn't too flowery and pink, and one that they still thought was cute.  It wasn't my absolute favorite, but I would take it over Sugar Cube.

It was a 45 minute drive to and from the farm where Lucy lives.  The whole way there I was still doing a little name searching on my phone.  Nathan wanted me to stop, and just embrace Lucy.
Then we drove past an establishment called Lucy's and we pretended that was confirmation.  Nathan said, "Look!  It's a sign."  And I marveled at his pun.  It was a literal sign, and it was our figurative sign.  I put my phone away and embraced Lucy.  And after a sushi dinner, we went to PetSmart and got her name lasered onto a pink, bling, dog tag.

When we met her we got all stinky, and squeezed her face and tried to resist the urge to kiss her.  The whole way back from our visit I couldn't stop gushing, "What a sweety!  We're gonna be best friends!"  I'm excited for the girls, but I'm excited for me too. :)  I really have been craving a pup forever.  We were waiting for the days of no more diapers to take this plunge.  And here we are.  But it's still a secret for another week and a half.  Don't tell!

So, speaking of puns, here's how funny I am...  :)  Joking, joking.  I do make myself laugh, though.

I just love it when my very smart husband learns something from me, and I make him laugh all at the same time.  It makes my day.  So the other day, someone said, "And how!"  And it reminded me of how much I love this expression.
Do you know the correct use of this?  I love using it because it can mean, "I totally agree!"  Or it can mean, "How in the world do we do this?"
Nathan said one Saturday morning, while we let the girls make waffles and other messes, "We really need to get out bed."  And I, being as dorky as possible, proclaimed, "And how!"  And laughed at myself for being so awesome.
But Nathan didn't get it.  I was so excited that I got to tell him the correct use of "And how!" And my alternate meaning of the quandary of how we might get ourselves out of bed.  And then he laughed.  And I laughed.  It was a great time.

I have to hold myself back from saying, "And how!" all the time.  It really is a great expression.

Enough puns.  In other news, I'm picking tomatoes just as soon as they think about not being green.  We have a bird pecking problem.  Still, once they ripen up in a paper bag, they're 10 times yummier than the grocery store maters.

Also, the cabinets are painted!  Once Nathan hinges and hangs my 4 painted doors, I'll get to finishing up the other doors.  Things are finally moving along.

This past week has been free of appointments,  so the girls turn on a yoga video every few hours while I paint.  And then we bake a raspberry chocolate cake, and read books.  It's wonderful.  I'm beginning to feel anxious for the hurried mornings of getting everyone ready to leave the house for school and work.  We are just loving summer.

When I read "And how!" I also thought of, "Well, when?!" from that one movie. Remember? As I read this, Tyler said, "Why are you smiling so much," and I said, "because Amanda is funny." I'm going to snuggle Lucy so well. I'm so so so happy for you.
