Last Friday was supposed to be Lola's birthday party. All of the sudden Friday afternoon, Riley had to come home early from school with a fever. She has had a fever for 5 days now. She kept getting better and feeling fine, it would drop to 99, and then jump to 103. So that's it. I'll take her in to the doc tomorrow.
So, I was all ready for a party and we canceled it. Nathan got sick too. I put all the potato soup and sugar cookies in the freezer for the rescheduled party. Then I made a new dinner and no one felt like eating. The weekend was slow and low and kind of stinky. I was the sole dog walker, which was exhausting. But I think I lost 2 lbs. We've started running too. It helps her sleep better at night. I guess it's good for me too.
I cried over my no-party loss, nobody-eating-my-2nd-dinner loss, because I needed someone to mourn with me over my loss of party I had prepared for. But Nathan wasn't mourning, he was just laying on the couch (he did mourn with me later, but initially I was traumatized). That's a big heart drop for me. So, to pick myself up, I got the sewing bug. And tackled a few halloween costumes.
Kate has a shiny, frilly-edged bat cape, and head-banded bat ears. Riley helped me with this today.
Claire has a cat fur vest and tale.
Riley made this costume-y dress with Grandma this summer, which she decided to call a witch dress for Halloween. I made her a witch hat.
Riley's at a 100 here, but still able to eat awesome pumpkin cheesecake swirl brownies.
We did have a super quick breakfast birthday party for Lola last week. She got a mommy horse for her baby horses. :)
They're so good. I guess it's the browning of the butter and that they're made with brown sugar, that makes them a carmely, buttery sugar cookie. Awesomeness! We're going to decorate them at the party once we're all well.
