Claire started off the break making flower pancakes while we all slept in. Awesooooome.
We went to the lake for a couple of days, and brought Lucy along. This is how we ride, covering me in dog hair and dog dandruff (Lucy has dry skin). We leave her unleashed half the time. She loves the dock so usually runs from the house to the dock and only once took off after a family of deer, but returned soon after. She was soooo happy there.
I decided to hang my charcoal sketches down the hall, even though Riley isn't finished yet. I'm really happy with them. I just hope I don't leave it this way (minus Riley) for another year. I also painted the red entry the same light gray that is now in the kitchen. Yay for light, happy color. I love walking through this part of the house now. :)
And I just feel like I should explain that I like quirky art (Lola sucking her thumb). Maybe since I don't feel like a skilled, perfect artist, I'd rather do stuff that's halfway silly, so we can all say, "Ha, that's funny" rather than critique it. :)
Though my original plan was to do their profiles, I may do this one of Riley since we have no young profile pictures of her. I just really want her cheeky stage.
But I'd rather have her profile. I'll keep hunting for the perfect picture.
We had a cousin play day, and these two are the most loving cousins.
They are just the cutest together.
So last night we went for a bike ride (everyone rides except for me). I run alongside Lola's bike, but all the others are 2-wheeling professionals now. Anyway, we came back from the bike ride and decided to walk Lucy. In Lola's mind, she is constantly on a horse. It used to be Scarlet, who is very obedient. But tonight she was riding Sugar Cream, who still needs some training. We started heading down a hill and Sugar Cream (imaginary, of course) took off. A car was coming from behind and Lola was in the middle of the road. I yelled for her to stop and jump into the grass and she was not obeying. She did move to the side eventually, but it was close and scary. I ran to her and we sat in the grass to talk about it. She said, "It's just, Sugar Cream hasn't been trained to stop very well." Oh my goodness. You can't stay mad. Kate and Lola both lost snacks that night because their horses are badly trained. :/
And guys, it's just really good for me to not be on Facebook and Instagram. It's been nice.
Well, now we're going to go get some Old Navy jellies on sale and some Sam's food. And then I'm going on a date to celebrate 11 years with the love of my life.
Happy weekend, family and friends.
