Fall Break Continued

The girls would rather stay home and play all of fall break away.
They love being able to play whatever they want.
And wear whatever they want (awesome, huh?) in the comfort of our home.

It was really hard to get them out of the house.  But we did manage to get out to Oxley Nature Center for a bit, walk some trails, look at their little museum of animal skins and bones, eat a snack, and play on the playground.  It was a super time.

Last night, Nathan graciously scraped out 4 pumpkins for us.  Man, carving felt like a bigger job this year.  And the cutting utensils are being made cheaper I think.  Most of our little carving knives broke before we could get the last pumpkin done.  Maybe we just bought some thick pumpkins this year.

Side note: I chose our pumpkins this year based on their huge, chunky stems.  I want to use them to make my own velvet stuffed pumpkins that I see people purchasing online for $70 or something crazy.

My handsome, strong man doing the scary part for me.

They're both a little frightened of the guts.

I got most of the owl done.  I was going to carve in feathers on the tummy but decided I would rather make popcorn. :)

Oops, I didn't get pictures of the other pumpkins.  We had a bat and a kitty too.  After carving, we sat out on the porch with our glowing pumpkins, eating popcorn and strawberry smoothies, singing songs, running in circles, and howling at the moon.

I pray that I take the time to dig out the pumpkin guts for my kids. good job. and pretty kids... also, Nathan was very selfless to do that. Man, I hate halloween.

Ah! We're doing pumpkins this weekend. Howling at the moon seems so appropriate :)
