It's a double birthday party!

Kate and Claire are both July babies, so we squish all the partying fun into one evening.
Thankfully, my father-in-law brought his camera and we have some really great pictures from the evening.

Lucy had a lot of crate time and leash time.

I can't believe we didn't get a picture of our dinner.  Inspired by my experience at Fassler Hall and from the Smoke Truck, we concocted a beautiful sausage (like a brat) wrap with pico de gallo and monterey jack, and I made a kale-romaine-mango salad with cilantro vinaigrette.  I was pretty happy to crate the dog and chew slowly.  So good.

My sister and her precious Audrey.  I could just sit and stare at my niece forever.  Somehow she's getting cuter every day.

Me and precious Lucy.  Ange and I stood around with our babies and talked about their sleeping patterns. :) (And yes, getting a puppy has severely halted the kitchen's upper cabinet door project).

The birthday girls were so pumped. Kate is 6!

Claire with her new glasses. She's 8!

Grandma and Lola.

Aunty Aly loving on Audrey

The girls wanted polly pocket cake, but I didn't have time to do a big polly pocket scene, so I said, "stick your favorite polly on top." :)

I was so focused on getting candles lit fast on two cakes before they were covered with wax, that I didn't consider Polly's well-being.  As you can see, Kate is realizing the candles are too close to Polly's hair while I happily and obliviously play with fire.

Watching that plastic hair melt.

She was instructed not to save Polly.  Thus, the adorable furrowed brow and crossed arms.

"...happy birthday to yoooooou."
(Kate, trying to enjoy the song, but distracted by the blackened hair).

Poor damaged Polly.  It's really not that bad, just a permanent messy bun. :)

I love my family.  Love my girls.  Love sausages and Lucy, and chocolate layered nutella, whipped cream, strawberry cake.  It was a sweet evening.  Our girls are growing too fast.  Hug your chubby ones, because these bony girls will be women before I know it.

Sweet little bony girls. Can't imagine Audrey as a bony little girl. :)

Ha! I love it all. Kate is priceless... also, the pic of Claire in her glasses. Guess who always made that face when they were younger? You and your pursed lips and dimples.
