We have a tick infestation.
I am soooo stressed.
I spent the past couple of hours calling the vet twice and my husband twice (while in Petsmart with the girls yelling at each other about which hamster was the cutest). Discussing whether I should actually purchase the $53 package of Frontline. Of course I should. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever would not be fun.
So the story goes, at 5:45 this morning Lucy barked for me. I took her out, fed her food, and sat half dead in the playroom floor while she jumped all over me. A couple of girls soon trickled in and said they were hungry for breakfast. A little later Kate was playing near Lucy's crate and said she saw a lot of little bugs on the towel she sleeps on. There were like 22 ticks on that towel. I threw Lucy outside and washed the towel and vacuumed everything.
We must have picked them up a the lake this past weekend. The only place to take her to potty there is in the woods. Ugh. I've been feeling phantom itches, but I've seen no ticks on our persons. I'm hoping it's just the stress making me itch. :/
Thankfully, yesterday was a pretty great day.
I put this on my feet along with my lotion socks.
These are the socks reserved for my lotioned feet.
I used to saran wrap lotioned feet, but that's just weird.
Lotion socks aren't weird though. :)
But really, there is something about all my barefoot gardening time that makes the ol' feet untouchable. And that's not nice, so I have a regular lotion-sock routine.
I promised the girls a very indulgent and cheesy lunch if they would just eat their apples, help me with Lucy and let me work on my project for the day, which we will discuss below.
Lucy suddenly started waiting at the back door to be let out to potty. Made me love her a lot.
Nahan was having a manly dinner with his manly friends, so I made an easy, appetizer dinner with our abundance of garden cherry tomatoes, and the girls gobbled it up and sang praises the whole time. It's this tomato crostini with whipped feta and we just loved it. Bread for dinner never met a grumpy girl.
Also, I up and did this after I finished my morning coffee. I primed all that red in my kitchen.
Didn't even know I wanted to. Swallowed my coffee, looked at my ugly walls, and my brain said, "fix it now." So I did. Needless to say, Nathan was super shocked when he got back from his manly dinner.
So, yesterday was great. Today, a little stressful, but at least I have a potty trained dog, and a primed kitchen. I feel really happy every time I walk in there.
