We had a big ol' party.
Riley says s'mores are her jam.
Kate gives a thumbs up.
They were beautiful and delish.
We broiled the other half in the oven with the mallows on them. It worked great.
So the whole time Nathan was out of town on business, he would send me texts and pictures like this:
"Just eatin' lunch..."
Which happened to be a crepe with shrooms and gruyere and florentine wonderfulness, while watching seagulls and ships come in. And I would eat my lentil salad and cry.
And I'd text back,
"Just killing the dog."
Which really, I almost did. Her obedience is not catching up with her physical growth. She is now able to lick the surface of our dining room table. When I set it with food I have to push all the plates to the middle until every body is present to defend their own plate.
We have a plastic bag with a knot tied in the end. We swat her on the nose with it and say "off." It works great because it scares her but doesn't really hurt.
But last night she was stretching her tongue across my cutting board to get some chopped chicken!
I grabbed that bag and accidentally had the knot in my hand rather than on the swinging end. I realized I'd need to swing pretty hard for the floppy end to scare her.
I swung hard and she jumped up to bite it, and I punched her in the nose. She cried and I hated myself. Then I saw blood and really hated myself. We sat in the floor and apologized.
Nathan said, I bet she'll never do that again. Ha. ha. ha. She did it 30 seconds later.

gosh, i just had to majorly catch up on your blog. you need to wear Lucy out big time before bed. She needs another dog friend... haha. could you put her crate in the garage? do you have a garage? because letting her out only tells her that if she cries/barks she'll get let out. Russ did that. sorry you punched her in the nose. sometimes it really takes a dog friend to tone them down a bit.
Will it wake up the girls to just let her bark? I'm telling you, ear plugs for yourself might be the answer.
